So I was minding my business on facebook last week when a friend of mine {who is an amazing designer} offered free tickets to the local parade of homes around the Grand Rapids area if you liked the builder she works for on facebook. {Two winners were randomly chosen}. And guess what???!! I won!
I have to admit I've never gone through the parade of homes before. It was so much fun! Because of time constraints we were only able to go through four houses but I wanted to share some of what I saw and comment on a few things.
Because some of the tours were done at night or there were many people in them it was hard to get top quality pictures! I did my best! ;)
Here we go! This first set of pics is the house that my friend Jaren designed and was built by Solomon builders.
I never thought I would love a hammered copper sink but I'm smitten!
Love this tablescape!
Here are the bathrooms! This first one is a tiny little guest bath that was uniquely shaped but done in a big way! Its hard to tell from the pics but the tiled portion is its own angle of the wall.
How about this master bath?
There was another one of these counters/sink/mirrors on the other side of the door.
This is one of the upstairs bathrooms. I love how they used the tiny space for little shelves.
This nursery is so cute! Jaren hired an artist who free-handed the animals on the wall and then they striped them. I love this idea!
I'm totally saving the best part of this house for last. I think its my favorite because my boys would so love this!!!
I love stripes and this is a great detail.
Even the globe is charming!
OK, so that was the first house! The rest of the pictures are from the other three houses we saw all done by different builders. Each was beautiful but there were a lot of things I didn't like. {I can be critical because I can't afford any of them! ;)} One thing that really surprised me in one of the more expensive houses was that they used so many different flooring choices throughout the house. It made every thing feel so choppy! Enough of the criticism! Here they are. I am grouping the pics by rooms.

Kitchens:
This kitchen below was built into a little niche off of the basement family room. I love the use of space!
This is another basement kitchen or bar.
Living Spaces:
I noticed a lot of curved couches in the homes we went through.....interesting!
Check out this ceiling!

Odds and Ends:
A pretty laundry room:
I'm not sure if I like this or not. It seemed out of place in the formal house but it is unique!
Not a good pic but a very creative way to store books.
Pretty light fixture.
And a pretty house!
Now to go read some verses on contentment! :) I hope you enjoyed the tour.
