A Housewarming Wreath

I have a very sweet co-worker at the nursing home {where we are social workers} and she and her husband just bought their first house. Its a really cute house with shaker siding in gray and a blue front door. I wanted to give her a house warming gift and thought a wreath would be perfect!

I don't have a picture of her house, but here it is on my door.

I love the look of the argyle wreaths I've seen around the web but they were a bit too plain. Adding flowers was the perfect touch and adds more contrast and color.

Since you can find many tutorials out there I won't give you the blow by blow on how to make this, but I do want to share a few lessons I learned with this project.

  • Because the wreath is covered with yarn, the base can be super cheap. Pool noodles, basic foam bases or in my case, a straw wreath I found on clearance for $2.00.
  • To make your "X's" more uniform add some hot glue on each one to hold them in place.
  • Save the flowers for last. Try several arrangements until you find a combo that pops!

And the best part was that she loved it!
