Using Hoops as Art

     I spent the afternoon today at my friend Christine's house working on her little girls room. I showed you the poms I made to go above the reading nook and today we got those hung.

     On one of the walls in her room we decided to use embroidery hoops as art to fill in the space above her dresser.

     This is a super simple project that hardly needs a tutorial. I put this together for you just in case you don't have a clue how to do it yourself and because it hardly seems fair to share it with you without showing how its done!

     To start with I bought wooden embroidery hoops in three different sizes {one large, one medium and three small}. These vary in prices from 1.49 up to 3.80. Then I found some fabrics that complemented the color scheme which you will see at a later date.

1. Take your hoop apart by gently unscrewing the top screw and take off the outer ring. Lay your fabric over  the smaller ring and put the larger one back on.

2 and 3. Pull the fabric taut and trim off the excess.

4. Tighten your screw.

5. For additional security I added some craft glue around the seam to be sure it would stay in place for the long haul.

     That's it! I couldn't be easier! Its kind of hard to tell from these pictures but the two small pink hoops have gingham fabric in them.

Now we have part of the room done! Today we also hung the poms {from little clear command hooks on the ceiling}, painted the green stripe on the wall and hung up our hoops {again using little command hooks so minimize the  holes in the wall}.

Hopefully in a few weeks we'll have this room done and I will show you the big reveal! 

Now this last pic is a freebie! ;)  I was in Home Depot today and oh my word, I fell in love with a back splash! Has that every happened to you? It was like a cheesy romantic movie. I spied it from across the isle and my heart when pitter patter! 

Isn't it perfect? Tile in and of itself isn't that expensive {we could do the whole kitchen for about $230.} its the labor that's killer. So after I get my hubby on board ;) we'll be watching a few online tutorials! Stay tuned.........{oh, I'm so excited!}
